Success Story: “Bea”

Eula “Bea” was admitted to Fountainview Nursing and Rehab following a fall resulting in an acute back injury. Following her hospitalization, Bea was unable to walk distances greater than 10 feet, complete self care tasks independently, or maintain adequate balance required for her to live at home independently.

Bea was evaluated by our Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapists, and an individualized plan of treatment was developed to target her limitations as well as her overall goal of returning to live at home alone. Bea was especially motivated to move home as she lives just across the street from our facility. Seeing her house through the windows of our therapy gym gave her the motivation she needed to work hard to get stronger each day. Bea participated in PT, OT, and ST services to target strength, balance, techniques for self care, and intentional development of strategies for prevention of future falls. Our therapy team was always so impressed with Bea’s hard work and dedication to succeed.

Bea successfully met all of her goals and was able to move home! Congratulations Miss Bea! We are so proud of your progress.
