Short-Term Therapy Success Story
Velma S. has been a resident at Fountainview since 2019. Velma originally admitted for an ankle fracture for which she was non – weight bearing for several weeks. In the beginning, she progressed from being a Hoyer lift for all mobility to being able to stand-pivot transfer with a walker. A few weeks ago, Velma came to the therapy department and stated that she wanted to be able to walk again. With a new ankle brace, and a new-found determination, Velma is now able to ambulate 40 feet with her walker. She has been working diligently five days a week for the past eight weeks with her physical therapist and occupational therapist on building up her strength, activity tolerance, and standing balance and it has paid off. Velma continues to make gains every week and has shown a confidence in herself she did not have before. Velma, we are so proud of your progress!
