Short Term Therapy Success: Betty R.

Betty R. was admitted to Fountainview Nursing and Rehab following a hospitalization from pneumonia. Upon readmission to the facility, Betty demonstrated significant general weakness, difficulty transferring and walking, and impaired swallowing.

Betty was evaluated by our Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapists, and an individualized plan of treatment was developed to target her deficits as well as personal goals. Betty participated in PT, OT and ST services 5X each week targeting strength, endurance, balance, techniques for self care, as well as swallow strengthening exercises. Betty made consistent progress each week in the areas of bed mobility, transfers, upper body strength, ambulation, and safely swallowing regular diet textures. At the time of discharge, Betty was able to walk to and from meals with staff, complete transfers and dressing tasks with MIN assist, and safely eat and drink all diet textures.

Betty has done a fantastic job while receiving therapy. She works hard every day and has been very committed to her progress. We are so happy to see her regain her strength!
