From the Memory Care Coordinator

We are still planning to have a Memory Care locked wing, but until then, I am going to be assisting with educating staff on many different items, memory care included, so be on the look out for some fabulous changes coming, and below is just a little helpful tip when visiting your loved one that has Dementia:

“Dementia typically goes on for many years. How you can communicate with your loved one, ideas include, changing how you speak, such as use simple words and sentences, speak clearly and slowly. Don’t try to argue with them on what they are saying, as we all struggle from day to day on how to enjoy our time with them, it is best to agree with what they are saying, or to go back to the time frame they are in at the moment.”

Please be on the look out for more ways to help you when visiting your loved one with Dementia/Alzheimer’s.
Thank you, Teresa O.
